Artist Statement
The vessels I create are a result of my efforts to transform clay, which is essentially cold, heavy mud, into beautiful and interesting shapes that reflect the sensation of the soaring towers of modern architecture and the fluidity, geometry, and expressionism of 20th century decorative and visual arts. Through ceramics I can bring into existence the images, forms, and shapes that are swirling in my head.
When looking up at a skyline, I see intersecting lines and arcs and patterns which I reinterpret in my pieces. I want my work to welcome and challenge the viewer in the same way; to see something different from every angle and discover a new possibility at every passing.
